Welcome to Craighead Muckle Howf

The Muckle Howf is a converted traditional Scottish stone-built holiday home.
It offers you a delightful location in which to spend your holiday, either to simply relax or as a base for some of the best Scotland has to offer.

What makes it special is the setting combined with the very high standard achieved in the conversion of the steading which has been awarded of ‘five stars’ from the Scottish Tourist Board. It is unique in its quiet country setting, surrounded by natural gardens, a brown trout lochan and its own private hot tub.

The Muckle Howf has wonderful views, sunsets and privacy but due to its location it becomes an ideal place to base yourself for easy access to some of Scotland’s finest country and tourist attractions.

Strike out from here to visit Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Edinburgh or Glasgow or head north for the Highlands, Scotland’s National Parks or the mountains and lochs of the Trossachs.

For golfers it couldn’t be better with an array of golf courses available including the famous Gleneagles. Walkers and cyclists will find this an ideal base to return to in the evenings.

Or simply relax by the pond, in the summerhouse or wander through the garden.

When the day is drawing to a close it will be time to take to the sauna and then sit under the stars in the hot tub, retreating eventually to the whisky lounge to relax in the comfy sofa’s under the beams and to perhaps enjoy a dram or two.

Ian, Heather & family look forward to welcoming you.

Testimonials

Having done many cottage holidays before, this place is by far more superior than anywhere we have stayed before...the cottage is pure luxury you couldn't ask for anything more.

What a wonderful house. Wow! Warm, spacious, comfortable - everything in place for a fantastic family break. Even a wet cold week didn't detract from the house & setting. Hot tub in the pouring rain was a great way to relax. We have stayed in a lot of luxury holiday cottages around the UK and this has to be one of the best!
